This will probably make sense only to the french speakers who might have seen this show from 1982, "Once upon a time... Space" and especially its great opening sequence and its memorable soundtrack (at least in french!). This is the first thing the word "infinite" reminded me of (it's the first word of the song). I'd really like to watch this show again, even though it probably aged a bit now.

L'Infini ! J'ai tout de suite pensé à "Il était une fois l'Espace" en voyant le mot de la semaine d'Illustration Friday, et à son générique mémorable. Cela faisait longtemps que je ne l'avais pas vu, j'en ai eu la chair de poule :-) Ahh, nostalgie. La série a sans doute pas mal vieilli, mais j'ai vraiment envie de la revoir maintenant!

This is a panzerbjorn, an armoured polar bear from Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials". I'm reading the second book of the trilogy, and really like it so far :-), which is why I have been obsessed with panzerbjorns lately :-). Anyway, I found it quite fitting for this week's Illustration Friday word, "Fierce".

A drawing for Illustration friday, it's been a long time ! I wanted to draw a shar-pei puppy but ended up with this teenager dog instead :-P and after looking at some pictures I realize it doesn't even look much like a shar-pei at all. oops.
Un dessin pour Illustration Friday, ça faisait longtemps ! Je voulais faire un chiot shar-pei mais au final il a l'air plus d'un chien "ado" :-P Et finalement, après avoir regardé quelques photos, je réalise qu'il ressemble même pas à un shar-pei en fait. Oups.

The Zoo - Illustration Friday

Actually, visiting zoos usually makes me just sad, but the other day when I visited the Biodôme in Montreal, I saw this cute scene. One of the penguins was really curious and kept staring at the kids, who were staring at him in return.

En fait, les zoos ça me rend généralement juste triste, mais l'autre jour, quand je visitais le Biodôme à Montréal, j'ai vu cette adorable scène. Un des pingouins était vraiment curieux et semblait s'intéresser aux enfants qui l'observaient en retour.

The blue whale is the largest animal to have ever lived on earth, even bigger than the biggest of dinosaurs. Its weight is equivalent to 30 elephants ! I find that amazing and exciting. It's such a beautiful and peaceful creature.

Le rorqual bleu est le plus grand animal ayant jamais existé sur cette planète, plus grand même que le plus grand des dinosaures. Son poids est équivalent à 30 éléphants. Je trouve ça incroyable et excitant. C'est une créature tellement belle et pacifique.

A few sketches for Illustration friday's topic of the week, "Hats". Wanted to do a mad hatter first, but he turned out quite normal and behaved, then I did a magician and a musketeer. No reason whatsoever. :-P

I've just moved and I don't have a connection to internet since last month, so that's one of the reasons why I'm not updating much these days. This drawing is from a 20 minutes pose with a lovely model.

Update: here's the original colours I had for this picture. I found them a bit dull, so I gave them a more brownish look. But looking back at it today, I still quite like it. It feels more airy. Since I'm a bit undecided about it I've posted both :-).

Summer memories

Fall (or Autumn depending on where you live) is already upon us, the days are not so long anymore, and the evenings not so mild. As a friend of mine told me the other day, autumn is just teasing and frustrating, because the weather is still quite nice, but it's never long enough to be able to enjoy it. You just get a taste of it and it's over already. :-)

L'automne est déjà là! Les journées ne sont plus aussi longues qu'avant, et les soirées plus aussi douces. Comme me disait un ami l'autre jour, l'automne c'est juste frustrant. Il ya encore de belles journées, mais on pas le temps d'en profiter; juste le temps de te mettre l'eau à la bouche que c'est déjà fini.

Hi all

I'm finally back. What you didn't notice I was gone ? huh. Anyway, I moved from Scotland to Canada, yeah ! I live now in Montréal, Québec. Still working in the mobile phone games industry, still trying to make a bunch of pixel actually look like something people will recognize. The move, and the lack of an internet connection these last weeks, and some extra lazyness on top of that have delayed a bit this update. I hope to update this blog a bit more often now. :-) (won't be too hard)Probably posting a bit about life in canada as well.

Sorry to everyone I didn't reply to, and those who were left wondering where I was gone.

Bonjour tout le monde !

Je mets enfin ce blog à jour ! J'ai déménagé de l'Ecosse pour venir au Canada ! yeah ! A Montréal, Québec, plus précisément. Le déménagement, l'absence de connxion internet, et un peu de paresse il faut bien l'avouer, on retardé un peu cette mise à jour. J'espère updater un peu plus souvent désormais, ce qui ne devrait pas être pas bien compliqué ! Je parlerai probablement un peu de la vie au Canada.

Toutes mes excuses à ceux à qui je n'ai pas répondu, ou simplement donné de nouvelles.

My fantastic colleagues from I-Play offered me great gifts on my last day at work today. The "?" box is genius. Love everything. The Wallace and Gromit movie DVD, Killer 7 for the gamecube, a great book on character design, a great Zelda tee-shirt, and in the box a Dig Dug plush toy. These guys are really nice people and I will truly miss them. Thanks to all of them, I hope to see you all again sometime !
